New and Exciting!

Hey Everyone!

Ok fine I might be a little misleading when I mentioned exciting but new anyways!

It's been a pretty busy few weeks for me. I got to perform at Yuk Yuk's a few times, got alot of writing done and started the Comedy Troupe.

So I did finally get some stage time here in Ottawa, Hey man it's not easy getting on cause I guess there are alot of people aspiring to be Comics. My performances went well, and I was even told that I was the funniest of the night. Gotta love hearing that. Hey feedback is soo necessary in this industry, so when people lined up to come up to me and shake my hand and tell me how much they enjoyed it, then bring it on. Dammit though, why did I choose the only stage/performing career that doesn't get you laid!1 Figures, I would choose the one! But I am keeping it up and look forward to perfoming a whole lot more soon.

The most exciting part for me though is the Comedy troupe that I started. It's been a slow take off, but the interest is there and I was lucky enough to secure some amazing talent. I got everything from trained actors, comedians, writers and average funny Joe's. I took on a partner of sorts, cause he knows all the stuff that I don't. He's a trained Actra(Canadian SAG) Actor. He's been a great help and also directs Video's on the side. I've had issues locking down a great studio for all of us to rehearse, write and perform in but I will find this infamous unicorn type space. We had a great first meeting and actually filmed our first skit this weekend. It's cold as hell out here and it was a beach shoot, that included myself and three bikini clad women, see if you can guess who wrote this one??haha..But yeah it went really well and I can't wait to see the final cut. I'm really hoping that we get alot of these little skits down on film, maybe get into some festivals and then ideally get a monthly live show. All these are within our grasp and it's gonna be so much fun.

Anyways, this is what's going on over here. I'll be moving downtown Ottawa hopefully Dec 1st and look forward to stealing some of it's energy. There's always a little buzz going around in the market, and for some reason I always have a little buzz on when I go the market, so that should work out well.

Hope you are doing what you want to do and keep in touch. Lots of fun stuff coming!

New Ottawa Project!

Gidday Gidday...

Oh shit I'm already talking like I live in the Bush! Well it's cause I do, so there. For example in the last two days I've seen 4 deer, 178 wild turkeys a super sonic speed squirrel fight( which was pretty amazing), oh and a picture of one the largest moose ever. The good news is the air is nice and clean and for the most part it's calm. I guess I better start going into town more often, cause I might be losing my mind, soon I'll have long hair, be completely unshaven(including back) and I'll be wearing small round purple hippie glasses and a shawl. Very sad!

The Good news is I have been spending alot of time pondering what's next for me. I love writing jokes, sketches and all around stupid shit. And being out here has giving me plenty of opportunity to do so. The problem is that there are very little opportunities for me in Ottawa in terms of stage time. We have two comedy clubs but trying to get a spot on stage is as likely as pulling teeth from a Cub while the Mama bear is standing right beside you. See I'm even making Bush analogies...Oh God! See the problem is I don't have enough money to move back to LA now, so I have to stay in Canada so I can be paid, yo....If I could afford it, I'd be on a plane back to Hollywood but that might have to wait a little while. So then what? Move to Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver? Well Toronto and Vancouver are both crazy expensive and Montreal is full of frenchmen(haha joking), so what to do, what to do? Those are are all options and I have applied for actual jobs in both Toronto and Montreal so that I can afford to stay there and still play in the comedy scene. Both realistic options but ta-da it came to me...I'm going to start my own little thing here.

Ok sure Ottawa is known for being conservative, but fuck that shit. I live here, let's mix it up a bit. So I've decided to start my own little group of funny people. I've recently posted some adds online looking for Comedians, improv actors or writers. Basically just want to get a group of people together so that we can collaborate and think of some whacky stuff. Maybe film a weekly web series, that will include stand up, improv, sketches or even shaving animals. I don't care as long as it resonates with the audience, then great. So the first step is in motion and I have already got a few responses. Hopefully I will get alot of people responding and the move forward with it. I'm also looking for a studio space, so that we can rehearse/film and maybe even have a monthly live show at the studio. It won't be a huge production but maybe 60-90 people in attendance. I hope to have a small raised stage, Green screen and a slightly better than a ghetto blaster audio system. This might take a little time to get to, but shit if it was that easy than every, egomaniac, saddistic, self centered shit head asshole would have done it. So that is where I'm at now. Hopefully I get some good response and we make it happen, or I shelve it and move on to the next thing. Ideally it works out, cause I guarantee it will be fun, entertaining and buzzworthy.

Here is the link to the add that I've posted in a few places

http://ottawa.kijiji.ca/c-jobs-tv-media-fashion-Comedy-Writers-Improv-Actors-Stand-up-Comedians-W0QQAdIdZ157793679

So that's about it for now, please forward this link to anyone you think might be interested.

Anyways sorry for not Blogging for a long time, but I've been greasing the wheels and trying to get things in motion. I hope to keep you all updated a little more often.

Thanks for reading,

Bob

The end is near!

The end of my stay in LA is fast approaching and I surely do have mixed emotions about it.

It's going to be so good to see my family and friends, and really look forward to spending time with them.  It was great to have one of my sisters come up, my Dad and one of my best friends too.  But getting back to the old stomping grounds is gonna be soo much fun.  I'm really anxious to see my two nieces and my nephew.  I know I've only been gone for 5 months so far but in little people time it's alot.  Luckily I was able to talk to the girls over the phone but the little guy is still a baby, so it'll be great to play with him.  I hear that he doesnt stand still for a second, so then I look forward to him running around like a mad man.  I'll get in town just in time for the Navan fair which is a yearly tradition of boozing with friends.  Can't wait!!! Whether my Dad likes it or not I'll stay with him at the Cottage for a little while until I get set up again, but I have plans on another Comedy based thing that might get me traveling throughout Canada, so we'll see.

On the flip side I am a little bummed out about leaving this place.  I gave up my apartment yesterday and that sucked.  I really liked that place and will look for something similar when I come back.  But it's time to go, I've spent alot of money and will have to go home to replenish the funds.  There is no doubt in my mind that I will back here and hopefully within about 6 months. I'll miss the crazy people, the nice weather, the opportunites and of course Scott and Aneta.  There were soo good to me, I owe them everything, cause I probably would never have come here if they weren't here.

Hey I got to do stand up, work on a rewrite for a script, commercials, learn about the industry and meet a ton of cool people.  Only In LA for sure.  For the most part people really liked me out here and didn't have to much trouble making contacts.  But I am no miracle worker and 5 months is just not enough, not even close.   The good thing is I can take everything I learnt and better what I want to do so when I come back I'll hit the ground running...Ok fine fuck off I can't run, but I'll hit the ground wabbling in a slow pace.  Either way it was soo worth it.

The really good news though is I met a film producer/director who loves my story and is going to finish my documentary.  The documentary was the main reason I came out here, so having him on board is amazing.  He will actually be following me back to Ottawa later this week.  He will be filming everything and then taking care of all production of the film.  He mentioned that he's doing this cause he finds me very interesting, funny and thinks we really have a good shot of making this movie happen.  Actually he assures that it will be made.  Once that happens, who knows.  He did mention that Documentaries  don't make a ton of money but I'll get alot of exposure and have a film based on my life and travels...That's kinda cool, like honestly who wouldnt want to see this on a big screen? Ok fine maybe in Poland or Iran.. So I'll be stopping in cities all the way back to Ottawa performing again.  He's a real Nazi with the cameras though so I'll have to really get used to being filmed non stop...Oh well luckily I'm really good looking and don't have a bad angle!!! So I'm really pumped about that, I think that the movie will be great.  His past movies/tv shows speaks for themselves and I'm lucky to be tied with that now.

The only problem is the crazy long ride back home, arghh it takes so long.  We hope to get all the filming done within 10 days or so.  I'll probably shut er down in terms of stops in New York, which I think is a cool finish.  I spoke to a Comic friend this morning that lives in NYC and he's in.  I'll then go to Toronto where Paul will fly back to LA and I'll head home.  I have a better chance of surviving the trip home now that I got the AC fixed in the truck yesterday.  It's crazy hot out here, and traveling through the desert would have been a killer.  It's 52degrees there right now...haha WTF is that?

So that's that, I figured I'd let you know what's going on and look forward to sharing certain stories with certain people.  Couldn't possibly spill all the beans though, in fear of being put in a mental institution....Man I don't look forward to mesquitos, flies, hummidity and possibly actually working! But hey I'll do what I gots to do to get back here, well I won't prostitute, well maybe but that depends on what you look like!

Love you all, and see you soon!

The real life here!

Hey Everyone,

Have to admit I still love it out here, there really isn't anything like it.  I would live here full time if I could.  Partying, working and living here while consistently visiting my amazing family/friends back home every few months would be a dream. Honestly, who wouldn't right?  But reality sets in and I know that heading home in a few months is happening.  I know my limitations as a Canadian visitor and I am sticking to it.  It's actually amazing the amount of Canadians that live out here. For example we shot a video for a commercial today on Venice beach.  Sure it's a tourist area, but I spoke to as many Canadians as I did Americans.  It won't always be that way, but we are always proud to say where we are from.  Maybe that is why I meet so many of us...Hummm, never looked at it that way.  Standing tall, proud and making sure that everyone knows that we are representing Canada. It's a beautiful thing!

The last few weeks has actually been a pretty fun eye opener.  See my goal coming out here was to meet industry people.  The big break has obviously not happened but I can't discount what has.  I've met directors, producers, actors, comedians and a million other people trying to make their mark in this industry. If you are weak, shy or scared then this town could be hell. Life sets in and realizing or even knowing this is key to survival.  We've all heard those stories about "the starving actor" or "the one that tried but failed" or of course the "E! story Bio success".  These are the extremes and most live within these borders.  Certain jobs like Cameramen, lighting/sound guys, Indie directors and script writers are plentiful.  The truth is they are all wanting more.  The tough part is finding the ones that are genuine compared to the ones that would pick the kernels out of the dog shit at a corn roast for gig.

How do you know? I'm really not sure, If I ran the industry then it would be full of really hot, talentless actresses with fat fetishes, but Noooooo.  We are all trying to get that piece of the pie and choosing true talent is a talent in itself.  Some are naturals, some just work hard and others are lucky.  This might be the only comparison to real life jobs/careers.  The naturals seem to move up for the right reasons, the hard workers are given alot of work and those "right place at the right time" assholes are just there. Is that hot chic at a coffee shop more deserving than the weird looking girl with 8yrs of improv? Again I don't know...

I came out here with the attitude that I can do anything. Challenge me and I will prevail.  It's easy to say but hard to produce.  The naturals can be put in any situation and act like the queen of England at a donkey show if needed.  This is the reason that the same actors are always casts for those difficult roles. It's crazy hard.  I'm not normally camera shy, I like to make jokes...It's kinda the reason I'm here.  But today I shit the bed a bit.  I met a film director with great credentials last week that wanted to work with me. I got a call this morning to star in a commercial shoot.  Previously, I was comfortable with camcorders and dialogue that I wrote but being put on the spot with a professional camera crew was pretty intimidating.  I could have done soo much better.  Don't get me wrong it wasn't the worst but not the best.  He even mentioned to me " hey you froze there".  It was crazy right from the start, all the equipment, the microphones and the cameras.  It was awesome and I get it now.  Luckily he still wants to work with me and we have a few projects lined up already.

As mentioned in the last few weeks I met some great people that want to work with me.  I've never even seen a a real script in my life but have been brought on board to re-write and add comedic twists to one.  I'll tell ya sitting in on a pretty big budget film as a writer is pretty crazy.  I was introduced to the producer and director as a comedy expert?? I actually had the balls to deny that and say that I'm just there to help, cause that is a ridiculous introduction. It went well, and learnt alot about the film industry. I look forward to completing this project...Bigtime! I was asked or I can say even challenged to write my own comedy.  Sure the plot guidelines are extreme but I have been working mercilessly on completing it.  I'm proud to say that it's done in rough form and not too bad.  I actually have 2 other writers helping now to complete it for the final pitch....Ya never know!

It's not hard to get caught up in the bullshit out here, I might have and maybe I wasn't productive as I should or could have been.  But this is all foreign to me, it really is.  Making the best of it and taking it all in is all I got.  That insane work ethic has never been my thing but a little creativity sometimes helps.  My only disapointment is that I havn't lost any weight out here, you figure with all the walking, sweating and lack of food money I would almost perish, but nope.  Full figured as always, but that's just cause it's a good look. I'll be coming home with as many chins and rolls as before...Thank God!!

Was I too detailed in my blog?  I know that my site needs alot of updating with videos, jokes, etc.  Please note that I am working on it and some more Bigbobaloo is one it's way. The truth is I'm lazy cause the whisky is $12 a bottle...I know, awesome.

Thanks for reading...Love ya!

P.S. I learnt 2 new dance moves and they are sweet...

Funny night in Hollywood!

Firstly it's like 5am and I shouldn't blog, but I have to!

I really only have a few months left out here and I decided to make the best of it.  I actually spent yesterday scheduling my available time the best I can.  Sure I have to filter in sleep, eating, grocery shopping, cleaning my apartment, joke writing, sketch filming, script re-writing and hardcore networking.

The ones that know me, know that eating sleeping, shopping, and anything to do with just living is boring.  I get all that done, but I am always looking for more. I need that personal interaction or I'm done.

I spent the day totally out of my element watching, observing and writing about Beverly Hills.  After $10 for Valet parking, $70 dollars for 4 drinks and one of the best seafood chowders that would rival the crew from the deadliest catch, I was in the groove.  Sure it's easy to laugh at the beautiful people that pop in and out of these stores, yet they are out of reach from the norm of society but still hilarious on it's own.  I actually saw two women, Mid 40's, driving a $400K  pinkish Rolls Phantom stopping traffic cause they needed to stop at Tiffany's...really!

At least 5 security guards came out, one dude hopped in the car to park it and the other dudes walked them in and closed the shop.  I get the whole throwing money around but this was the craziest cases of pure opulence that I've ever seen.  Even driving a hummer I got stopped on the street and redirected to the next lane.  Beside me was a lime green lp 640 mercielago and behind me was a cl63 benz AMG...All this to say that I mind as well been driving a 1983 chevette..Unreal! Hollywood is cool and hip, beverly hills is bullshit! It's as real as the tooth fairy, but with credit cards instead.

I actually go and hang out in these places to remind me that it's possible, people really live like this, It can happen.  Some of these people are real, Totally real.  I was by myself today and probably talked to 25 random people.  Are they super rich,  just visiting,  or just being nice...I don't know!  But what I can tell you, is that alot of these women have alot more money that me.  I'm now considering being a pool boy. Beverly Hills Bob, Mr. Cool the guy that shocks your Pool......Pool Friend, Mr. Deep End.....Knows the G spot, rub cream when you're hot.  When you husband is gone, I'll fill your pond.....Trim, clean and care for your backyard, I'm Sweaty, heavy and always hard......Not overly sexy in a g-string, call me King Butt,Bigbobaloo da King.....

So after all of that craziness, I end up at my place at around 5pm.  I stopped at the grocery store down the street and picked up some chicken-kabobs...I knew that I was gonna end up at the pool/bbq area and havn't eaten that much all day.  Within about half an hour two girls that I've previously met came out and partied with me. I just finished my dinner but had lots left(I always cook more incase) and they chilled with me.  I don't understand why there isn't more people that hang out in the common BBQ/Pool area.  It's awesome, really cool.  Combined we had 3 bottles of wine and had a blast.  Actually we just made a plan to have a BBQ party for the whole building on June 21st.....I buy the food and cook it, they get the utensils and advertisment.  It's gonna be an epic party.  Hey it's all networking and my building here in Hollywood is full of actors/Models/Comedians/ and all around cool people.  We shut down around 10pm and that is where my night starts.

I'm actually pretty close to the West Hollywood action so after a stumble into my apt I called a cab and one of the funniest nights ever started.   See, the Comedy Store is probably the most popular comedy shrine in the world.  I was lucky to stand on that stage once and there is nothing like it.  So I show up in pretty good shape in the front patio/bar area and am welcomed with a drink from an obvious mind reader(or some chic that remembered me).  The comedy store is known for the party area, cause all the comics hang out there before or after their sets.  It's a great place place to meet people cause everyone is on the same page.  After a few drinks and weird looks from staffers(comedians) we go in for the last few acts.  The place was mostly cleared out cause it was like after 1am but the stage was rocking.

The last comic was Don Barris who is a great comedian and also the Jimmy Kimmel pre/post Guy...I met him like a twice before but he was hilarious.  He picked on me a little cause I was the Canadian Guy playing right into his act.  Being a Comic you have to respect other comics and anything you can do to play along.  It's really far from Heckling!!  He and the others in his act are very animated, energetic and funny.  I have to admit I helped out a little, cause I wont put him on the spot and feed him material that any comic would eat.  I would expect the same respect from anyone else.

His show ended and the place cleared out, but the drummer from his band/act(awesome dude, hockey fan, but a Habs Jersey) came out and got me and brought me to the back.  I even asked him if everything was cool.  But he was like " Man come party with us"... Well this is the reason that I go to these places, to meet people like this.  So even in my state I agreed.  Everything is shut down, nobody around and I walk in the back door with this dude.  It Starts!!!!! I Honestly got ribbed, attacked, questioned and challenged by the best.  It was crazy, I'm normally the guy kinda in charge of that and found myself on the receiving end.  I'm sure it's exactly how Robert Downey JR felt after his big Coke and Hooker bust.  They asked me everything, but I'm there to play along.....

I mind as well been osama bin laden, holy shit....I get it, I'm the only stranger out of 15 people, all the comics people, the managers, bookers, other comics....I got drilled!  Handled it pretty good, it was like a game of 1000 questions...Luckily I was in good enough shape but it was crazy.  It's like a dream but on the flip side the worst nightmare.  I got challenged to the stage and had to go up, again these are all industry people, on the spot. It went like " Ok Canadian Guy, lets hear ya" Go right now"....Lights come on, and I'm helped to the stage(main stage).  I froze a little, but I still did a little Bobaloo...No way I was gonna be a pure bitch, No way!  I threw a couple of jokes but the plan was really to screw with me up there.  Don came up with me and started his own little thing, but again I was all over it.  I actually said to the all the people there" Ok I'm down with whatever you guys want to talk about" Knowing that no joke could be delivered properly in front of these guys.  I knew for sure a couple of them were really trying to Fuck with me, but in all fairness I would challenge anybody to that spot.  Again, the regular full comics, Managers, Comedy store staff, and other industy people are all going " go ahead man, do your shit"...

I would have loved to be as crazy as I could but I honestly found myself a little scared.  This really was pretty fucked, I drank too much, wasn't prepared but loved every second.  After a few minutes of things I can't even blog about(dirty shit), I got off the stage and partied for a bit more.  We all needed to leave cause it was like past 3am.  So we Hung around for a bit and everyone was cool.

I have to admit I was not prepared for all of that, but now I will be. I was lucky enough that they all found me interesting enough to attack me on questions, put me on stage randomly and treat me like I deserve.  You gotta understand, these people are all players in the game, they are full time comics, or well known actors that worked their asses off to get there.  I can't expect them to be easy on me.  I deserve what I got, however they will never forget me.  I love that idea, it's the reason why I'm living here.

The next few months will really be tough.  I have been wild, but not as wild as I can be.  Hopefully I am challenged more, so that the ol noggin is worked.  Some things can never be duplicated as in friends met, improv classes at second city and blowing the minds of High end Comics every time I meet one.  Things will work out, maybe not this time around, but I will be back.  It really is the only place to be.

P.S.  Oh and there are no bugs here..Like None.

Something a little different!

Hey Everyone!

My Dad and myself were sitting outside by the pool a few weeks ago and we met a guy out there that was going through his lines for an upcoming film.  So we talked to him and I offered to help/intern if he needs it.  So it ends up that he's a pretty big tv/movie star with over a 100 credits and is also CEO of a film company.

So we hooked up this weekend and I started working with him and another writer to massage a script for a $30 million dollar movie.  So for the last few days we've been going through it and my job is to add any comedic twist that I can.  The movie is the furthest thing to a comedy however it's still great experience and if I can add my touch to it, then I would be getting a writing credit for it.  Pretty exciting stuff!

I offered to help because I want to learn as much about the industry as I can.  And I have actually learnt quit a bit.  Things like Tax credits, or filming in areas, raising the funds to actually get to filming, product placements, etc.  All great stuff to learn.  We'll also be working on auditioning because he is still an actor an I need to know how to do this.

This is just part time so it leaves me with plenty of time for my own comedy.  I have been doing alot of writing lately and I am ready for throwing out a new act.  Maybe this week I'll get out there and give it a test drive.

So either way keeping busy and loving life.   I really miss everyone back home but man it's soo nice out here.  I have not seen it rain since I've been down here(1.5 months).  That's just craziness! I wish I could take my family and the Camp and move it down here...Oh and fuck it I'd take Navan and all it's fun people too. Come on people, no mesquitos or flies at all!!! yep yep

Humm what else is new...Oh here is a pic of me sitting in a prius???..hah
a I didnt think I'd fit, but voila I do! I got some pretty weird looks sitting in it.  Man you can't even hear it, just push a button and go...I'll stick to the hummer tho! I just had to take the pick and prove to everyone that obesity is not as negative as you think. Look how good I look!!

Oh Yeah and I survived the first earthquake on sunday, ok fine I didnt have to really survive much, actually didn't even feel it.  Damn the world, I've been wearing this life jacket and hard hat for the last two months getting ready for earthquakes and it totally passes me by.  I might just take this shit off, I'm never going to be able to save all the women and children at this rate. My cousin and Aneta felt it cause they were BBQ'ing in my pool area, but I had to run up and sign a NDC for the script work...arghhh. Just want to be a hero....That's it, but noooooo!

I got a few emails today from Casting companies so I'll get together with them and see if they can use a beauty like me in anything. It's really not that easy finding work for Bleu Nuis out here.  Oh well, mainstream porn have to work!

Cheers,

Bob

Ahh what a day! What a day!

So my Dad and sister are back to the cold, rain and crap weather and I am pretty sad actually.  It's only been a day and miss them already, but wow what a bunch of drunks.

I partied harder in the last week than in the two months gone!  Now that is  a challenge that I offer to anyone moving forward.  For a couple of little people they are rockstars.  Nat slept on the Couch and my Dad owned the air mattress, we even had Scott and Aneta sleep over that night.  It was like being back in Sudbury, with 17 family members sleeping all in one room. Again I was not touched once...Damn!

So if one good thing came out of this, is the fact that we now own the pool at my building.  I never really hung out there, but now it's the only place to be.  I'm actually having dinner, and typing this message at the same time beside the pool now.  I'm having chicken shabobs, and spilled some BBQ sauce on my keyboard and actually just told a chic, that "ahhh that's all I need is my keyboard to be any stickier" Not sure if it worked but I am alone again! I thought it was brilliantly disgusting, but she is kinda a stranger..Maybe she's deaf!!

So yeah things are going well, I'm on a new writing kick for the last two days, and pretty pumped about it.  Hopefully the energy last, but I think it will.

So that's about it, I have to eat before my dinner gets too cold...haha that's a joke, cause it's hot as shit right now and you're probably not!!! Sorry

Love ya all,

Bob

Some funny updates

Hey Everyone!

So I got in shit a few days ago from my Dad and Sister for not blogging enough, and I guess they are right.  But I like to wait to really have something to talk about, but I guess I should just be blabbing anyways.

So things are going well out here.  The Lamer and Natalie are up visiting me for the week and we're having a blast. We've hit the beaches and did some shopping and might have enjoyed a few drinks.  Last night we went to see Jimmy Kimmel live and totally lucked out cause the after the show, we got to see a small conert with the Black Eyed Peas...It was awesome, we were really close to the stage and I think Fergie now wants me.  I am totally ok with this! It is soo awesome to have my Dad and Natalie here, I missed them alot and it was good timing to have some family in town. They will be here for another 4 days and we got alot of things to still do.

So what have I been doing? I've been doing alot of writting and it's coming along well.  The funniest or maybe best part was I did go for an audtions for an upcoming show on Fox.  The interview went well I think and hope to hear back from them.  It's a reality show and is based on the Bachelor kinda of a thing but with a Big Guy like me instead.  It would be a good fit and sounds like a blast.

I havn't done too much stand up lately but will get back to it once things settle down here.  Did I mention that I love this town?  I will be applying and auditioning to alot of roles while out here.

Tonight I start my first class with Second City Improv.  I'm soo pumped for this.  It's an 8 week course with a 4 hour class once a week.  Should be really cool, and hopefully meet some awesome people there.  I think I'll really like improv, well hopefully anyways.  Second city has such a great history and I'm pumped to say that I'll be training there.

I'm expecting friends to be visiting soon.  I just found out that my buddy Jeff is coming and he's sister is coming down as well.  Just received their itinerary so that week will be a hoot for sure.

So that's it for now, Hope you are all well and I'll keep you posted..

Bob

New Site

So yeahhh it's finally up, and I couldn't be any happier.  It's obviously not complete yet but it's a good start.

My cousin Scott has been working on this for a few weeks.  The funny thing is that he's not a web designer and was able to pull it off.  Being brilliant might have something to do with it...but whatever he drinks vanilla vodka!!!  So we stayed up til the wee hours on Friday night to launch it.  I say we but it was mostly Scott rocking and rolling  with his pentagon like computer staring at his 40 inch computer screen.  It's bigger than my Tv in my apartment, but whatever he drinks vanilla drinks...We had to cancel the old site and transfer it over to the new site, again he made it look really easy, whatever he drinks Vanilla cupcakes...But ta-da it's live.  Thanks Bud, you're the best!

So now the test is keeping it updated daily/weekly with more content.  We're going to film some stuff today, but after last night and the 94 degree weather now we'll take the day off.

Yeah I don't function in this type of weather, luckily it gets cooler at night, but this is a little much and scares the shit out of me cause it's not even summer yet...Fuck that!  I had to change my underwear three times already today, my ear lobes are even sweating.  Luckily I've got AC in my apartment but I hooked it up wrong and hot air was being pumped in.....I might have had a few cocktails while setting it up.  So with a roll of tape I fixed it,  and it's much better in here now.  But due to the heat I am typing this naked now, and your welcomed for the image!

I got invited to perform again next friday so I'll be going to that.  Like I mentioned I've been working on a new act so I might break some of it out.  I'm told that alot of Actors/comedians perform their stuff at this venue monthly, so it will be cool to meet some more people in the industry. Scott and Aneta are coming as well for support, they're the best!

Other cool news is that I'm gonna be taking some acting/improv lessons in the next few weeks.  I'm leaning toward Second city, but it's LA so there are alot of choices out there.  Lemmings, Improve, ACME...I will be signing up hopefully within next few days.  Hey what the hell, it's not cheap but should be fun. As I mentioned one of main goals out here is meeting good connections and getting as much experience as possible.  So doing this will help with both of those.

Other amazing news is that my dad and sister are coming down to visit for a week.  I can't friggin wait, it's gonna be a hoot.  I promised them a few shows so we'll make sure that happens and then rest of time will be drinking eating and laughing.  I'm pumped about it for sure.

So that's about it for now.  Things are coming along as it should and the bonus is $12 bottle of Canadian whisky...I like that alot.

Thanks for reading!

I'm BAAACK!

Yo Yo Yo, what is going on?

So I've gotten hate mail, rude references, downright ignorance, funny faces and that's just cause I havn't blogged in a while.  Can you imagine what I'm going through being the fattest person in California!!

Ok, ok I get it and I was wrong...But I'm gonna give you a bunch of excuses to calm you down a little and save face.

Firstly I really have no clue what I'm doing out here, I know what I want to do but have no real idea what I'm doing.  I didn't have an apartment lined up, I don't know where I'm driving when I drive(bad nav skills), don't know where anything is oh and this town has like 3gabillion people.  So I'm a little lost.  Is this an excuse to not Blog, Maybe?

After a week of Apartment hunting I am in my new Apartment.  Well slightly used, Ok fine it was build in the 20's....So what.  But it's in Hollywod, has some major curb apeal and was owned by some Huge Actress.  It's like a 5 minute drive to Sunset dr which is really cool.  The area is gorgeous and very safe(until I arrived of course).  So it's a pretty cool lay out and I subleased it from some really cool chic.  She was heading back to New York for a few months so voila I am here. Everything went pretty smooth except I didn't have cable/internet for the last week.

This is now a great segue for another reason for not Blogging.  Everyday Time Warner said that they connected it, but for some reason they had to come by.  So Friday afternoon after 3 visits it finally started working.,.Yeah I was soo excited(see:drunk) to finally have it.  I couldn't believe that I was in the Mecca of the world here and didnt get internet.  Hey I was able to sit in my neighbours driveway in the middle of the bush back home and get a signal, but Noooo not in friggin Hollywood!!!

Another kinda funny story about that is that my Iphone wasn't working for the 3g data in the apartment either.   Well actually the phone would work to check my email from the shitter.  No word of a lie, I literally had to sit on the toilet in order to get any signal...Isn't that nutz? No where else but there.  Normally it wouldn't be a problem but I can only shit soo much. And sitting there not shitting was soo unnatural for me, I didn't want to possibly get hemmroids for unnecesary pushing.  It turned out that I was doing something wrong, the phone was on the wrong setting and my cousin Fixed it...So what, I'm aloud to be wrong sometimes.

And now for the third and best reason...The site itself..It's soo horrible looking that my Cousin took pitty on me and built a new one.  So Scott, Aneta and myself have been really focused on what we can do for a new site.  You are all going to love it.  I don't want to give too much away but it's a whole new look and feel. It actually looks like something a real Human did compared to the existing format which looks like a 1yr old blind Monkey built.  It will be up very soon and we are just fine tuning things now.  It's soo exciting!  We are also working on a alot of new skits/sketches, a Vlog(video blog) and a bunch of other things to keep you all coming back.

So with all this said we really are working on alot of things.  Things are going as planned, and will all work out.  I realize that I need to make myself more visible and that is what I'm working on.  I've been writing alot in the last few weeks too and will soon have a whole new act.  This is going to better, more animated and all around funnier, hopefully anyways.  In order to get my piece of the pie here I'll really need to be different than everyone else.   So what does that look like? I don't know, but I am in search of it.

These are really exciting times and I'm soo looking forward to the next 4 months or so out here.  My goal is really to meet alot of good connections, get alot of stage time and all around kick ass.  The documentary is still a go and will start being worked on soon as well.  I do have alot of footage already but I still need alot more.

Ok so to wrap it all up, I'm still alive, The blog is still working, I am having a blast, didn't have internet for a while, got a new apartment, shit alot for while and still looking good.  Oh yeah and new site very soon, keep your eyes posted!

Miss everyone back home alot, expecially my family, but we do get to talk/email/facebook alot so that is cool.  I'd like to thank all my friends  for the emails, facebook messages and phone calls.  I am thinking of all of you and miss you all too.  Hopefully some Friends and Family make there way down here soon, I'd love to have you here.

Peace out,

Bob

Thanks to the Roadies!

So I'm not sure if I did this enough, but I just wanted to send a quick thanks again to all the guys that came along this crazy journey with me.

The Last of the Guys left on Monday.  I had PooPoo for a full 10 days and we had a blast.  he definetely had the shittiest part but the best part as well.  As I mentioned we did a crazy amount of driving during the first 6 days...But Daish was able to learn how to master the video editing software in no time while I was driving, so that worked out great!  We surely had a good time and I've never seen anyone handle Patrone so well...Famous last words " I can drink tequila all night and not get drunk" ha.....

The good part was that Daish got to see LA and some of it's hot spots...We surely did alot of driving around town as well, but we had to check out Bel air, Beverly Hills, Malibu, Venice, Hollywood and Manhattan beach.  We did rock it hard for sure.  Thanks for the help and support man, SMB

And to the other Guys..Lee, Yvan and Pete thanks alot as well.  I probably would have driven off the road in middle of nowhere out of pure boredom if it weren't for you all.  We got to see some comdey clubs, alot of Hampton Inns and maybe a few drinks along the way as well.  Man, no lie it was the craziest road trip ever.  It was 5000 miles of pure awesome.  I'd suggest to everyone to make that trip one day.

I couldn't have done it alone, that's for sure.  Lee and Daish as Video editing masters, Pete was able to sing to me often and Yvan(the pretty boy) showed me how fun it was to shop...

Again thanks alot Guys, Love you all! and SMB

Apt Hunting in Hollywood!

So one down and I'm sure plenty to go...So as I mentioned that I ended up taking a place, but then he had to back down the next day due to the fact that the Hummer was too big and the neighbours complained...Fuck them!! The guy did sound generally sorry about it, so whatever I'm over it.

After a pretty shitty day of emailing people back and forth I might have a few other leads, but man it's exhausting.  Actually I find almost everything exhausting..Hummm, wonder why that is?? The only problem is this is a crazy expensive town and that place was a little cheaper than the rest.  Mind you it wasn't as nice either, but in a decent location.

If it wasn't for our exchange rate then it wouldn't be so bad, but man $2000 turns into $2600 really quick.  That's like 2.5 times my mortgage back home..haha, Insane!  Oh well it is Hollywood.  See there are places around, say 30-40 minute drive out of the way that are alot better priced, but then I have to filter in all the other things.  Gas, Cabs, Entertaiment.  See If I am doing a set on sunset in west hollywood, then parking is 20$ and I have to stay sober, which is pretty unlikely or the other option is a cab(which are cheaper than Ottawa surprisingly) but then if I live far away it could be 30-40$ for a cab...Not an option!

I know you're thinking that these really are minor worries, but I need to get into a groove here and these little things add up. I guess I could live in the Hummer in a Walmart parking lot, but I've got bad knees so that's not an option.  I could sublet and live with someone, arghhh...nah I can't do it.  I want to be able to shit and be proud of it, but seriously I'd hate to walk on eggshells in my own place, so that's not an option.

So that leaves me having to pay more than I want, to be closer to where I want to be so that I can do what I want to do.....makes sense!! That even blew my mind.

Either way something will work out in the next few days, I'm not too worried about it.  Scotty and Aneta are the best hosts and said I can stay as long as I wanted and actually insisted on it, but as mentioned to them I need to get into my mind straight, get back to writing and start focusing and I need my own place for that.  It's just a matter of time.

The Good news is that through all that apartment crap yesterday, I comic I met at the Comedy store on friday night emailed me to say that he was hosting a Gig in Hollywood this friday and asked if I could go do 10 minutes..So that's good.  I need to practice as much as I can and I;ll bring all new material this time, hell why not!  He also mentioned that they are cool with bringing my equipment so we can film it and post it.

BTW the new site is gonna be sick!! It's in the making!!!

Anways that's about it for now.  I'll let you know how the apartment thing ends up

LA Baby

So it's been a few days that I've been in LA and I'm loving it so far.  Sorry for not writing anything sooner but I've been too busy sweating!!!!

Actually the weather has been great and I can't say a bad thing about this place.  There is so much to do, Go to the beach, Clubs, restaurants or you could just drive around and get lost in the Hills...Wow the views.(and I'm not just talking about the mountains, ahahahah)

So we arrived on thrusday night and spent the night in..We might have had a few cocktails and had a BBQ and talked the night away.  After an amazing dance show from Scott we shut her down.  So we dragged a little ass on Friday but I was pumped still.  I was getting to perform at the Comedy Store.  It's always been a dream of mine to stand on that stage.  They do have 3 stages there so I obviously didnt get on the main stage but did a set there regardless.  We were all pretty tired and the rotation of comics took forever but I finally got to do my set.  It went well even though alot of the audience was gone by then and it was late.  What was important to me was having Scott, Aneta and Daish there for me.  Aneta and Scott also invited some friends to come along so that was cool, thanks alot!

It was cool I got to hang out in the green room and talk to the other comics..I'm sure I'll be doing a ton of that in the next few months.  I don't think I misjudged the amount of comics out there but I might have overlooked how hard it seems for them to get stage time.  So time will tell, I'll bust my ass once settle to make that happen and clinch a little piece for me.

LA is a nutty world but I will crack it!

So that leaves us with the rest of the weekend to relax and chill....haha yeah! It was go go go...which was awesome but it went by so fast.  We hit great restaurants like Fogo do Choi and clubs like Saddle Ranch, etc..On saturday I think we went back to Hollywood like 5 times, it was hilarious.  First to go pick up Scotts Range Rover which we left out there from the night before and then went for a crazy ride with a friend of ours through beverly hills, then back to the bar, then back to Scotts to get changed then back to Hollywood, then get drunk, then back to Scotts, then realize upon arrival that the house keys were left on the key chain in Valet parking(which we had to leave the truck again), then back to Hollywood..,.it was hilarious and Nutz...Loved every minute of it. Again thanks for the Good times Guys!

Sunday was pretty relaxing and didnt really do much, it was needed. We walked around Venice beach and chilled.  Monday was a hoot we spent the afternoon driving through the Hills in Malibu, wow that was wild.  It's pretty surreal out there. Then we all hopped in the Hummer and went and looked at my first apartment.  I was in West Hollywood and I took it.  So yeah I'm pretty excited about that.  I just wanted to sublet a place for about 4-5 months and that was cool with him.  It's furnished and it's a one bedroom, one bathroom.  Looks like a decent area and the bonus that there is an actual parking spot(hard to find around here)...So yeah I gotta fill in some paper work today, go to the bank and hopefully everything is fine by tonight. So I can move it tommorrow.

All I can say is that everything has been insane.  It's just so crazy that I am here, with a vehicle and an apartment(hopefully).  I really look forward to getting settled in so that I can really focus on my career.

Scott has been working on my site(he's a genius btw) so he's got some pretty good ideas.  We're gonna be setting up a green screen(like in the movies) in my place, so you can just imagine the funny shit that's coming...Soooo fucking EXCITED!

Anyways I'm babbling on like a 13yr old girl here but I've been slacking on the Blogging, Just note that once I'm settled in and working, then alot of shit will be added to the site...So don't go getting all disapointed and shit.  I will hunt you down!!

Love you all!

Bye Bye Texas, Hello Phoenix!

Ok so the end is near, I'm only one state away from being in California, woohooo!

So after days and days of driving through nothing but desert we arrived in another desert..Kinda cool.   Well far from cool, it's like 700 degrees here.  I sweated while driving, beat that bitches!

After Houston, Daish and I went to Austin for a night.  Again a beautiful city but it was a quick in and out.  We got to eat at PF Chang's which is an awesome chinese food restaurant and worked on some material.  We needed to prepare ourselves for one hell of a ride across Texas to El Paso.

So after about 9 hours of pretty well nothing in the outskirts of nowhere we got to El Paso.  What can I say about El Paso, chanty's and more chanty's everywhere but the hotel had free booze from 5;30-7:30.  So we took advantage of that for sure and spent the night editing video(soon to be posted). See El paso is a border town with Mexico and they are kinda in war there because of the drug scene.  As a matter of fact the hotel had a brochure that said " free 3 minute trolly to Juarez" So after happy hours(yes two) we called the front desk about that, she kinda laughed and said that it's no longer available but its only about a 10 minute walk.  She followed that by saying that it's night time and that we shouldn't go if we didn't want to die. Yes and that is word for word.  So a hard and long consideration we decided to not go.  But it was tempting, well minus the death part.  The next day we could see what she meant, right across a huge fence we could see the other side of hell...Wow it looked rough, my kinda place.

On to Phoenix we go...We had to cross New Mexico and all cars got stopped at one point to see if there were no illegal immigrants aka mexicans in our cars.  They had one look at Daish(red headed sort of) and whisked us through faster than than 2$ champagne room.  I did take the opportunity to asked them some questions, I don't think that was a good idea, but either way we made it.

So another 6 or so hours of nothing we finally get to another part of the desert, but wow it's a beauty here for sure.  We did see some pretty crazy mountains, rocks and Cactus's so it wasn't a  bust at all. We are now here in Phoenix for two days to work on some more stuff and prepare for maybe a set tommorrow night and then one final long drive to Los Angeles.

It's all coming to an end.  I'd like to say that I'm sad that it's ending but not really. Living out of hotels is really tough. See because I'm moving there for about 5-6 months I had to bring all my clothes(which are really heavy), my porn collection, shoes, coors light cowboy hat, Big drinking mugs, etc.  I didnt want to leave any of that shit in the Hummer so we gotta take it all in to the rooms everynight.  It's really a hassle.  To be honest living on the road wouldn't be bad with one or two bags but with all my shit it's tough.

So with that said I checked into my last hotel until LA...Cool! I'm soo pumped to get there and get settle and really focus on my career. Luckily I have Scott and Anetka there(cousin and his beautiful Girlfiend) and they are the best.  They are party animals and just amazing people, so we're gonna rock that town together.  Living there and trying to break in is not gonna be easy by any means but if I don't try I won't know.  I didn't really think that I had it in me to drive this far without a plan either, but I did it.  As of today I have put on over 4500Miles on the truck.  That's like a little less than 8000Km's..That's insane! Luckily for good friends and great support that came along.  I do have to mention that Daish(poopoo) is a nazi with Video's so that is really good.  He wants to edit, and needs shit to edit so we tape.  I needed that. Thanks bud!

So that's about it for now, I actually wrote this whole thing without a drink...I know, I know..that's why it got sappy at the end, haha.  Humm but the good news is that this Hotel has free drinks from 5:30-7:30 as well.  What a shame.  One hour of drinking our own booze until free stuff, yep yep..

P.S. I bought a 3+ foot long peperoni stick!! Not gonna eat it but it can be used either as a weapon or a midget tester

Take care all!

Houston at it's best!

So I'm in Houston with no other than the PooPoo McPoopersons....Good times

So he arrived last night and thought that the Hotel was 1km from the airport....Well Fuck me Houston is the 4th largest city in the US and there's like 19 airports.  So long story short I have to go pick him up like an hour away at 10:30pm last night, haha!  Thankfully I don't drink so I was able to go get him.

So last night was a good chill time catching up with my bro about old times and all that sappy shit. So we get up this morning and it's all business...He shaves my back and tell him that people don't notice that he's a red head and we have a good morning. It's 198 degrees here so we go to wallymart and pick up some sun tan lotion and start the day. Lotion application school was on bitches!!!!!!!!

I start my morning like I normally do ( watch the video) and it's goes from there.  Luckily I have Daish aka PooPoo, aka George lucas, aka speilberg, aka awesome and video is rolling.( watch the video)

Other than that it's been a pretty normal day, I weighed myself and it's not good news, we are burnt from the brutal sun and hiding from mexican...Good times.

Anyways that's it for now, PooPoo is a great partner after days of bein alone..Thanks Nat for letting me have him, I mean I had him before, but whatever, he asked for it...I mean forget it.

Life really does suck(watch the video)...haha SMB

p.s. we met these two black cowboys in the elevator and I begged them to take me down and tie me up with a cell phone charger while PooPoo taped..They wouldnt do it, but they were here in competition for the rodeo, so it's probably better for me that way!!

Hey Ya'll

Ok so I'm now in Houston, Tx.  Wow what a huge friggin city it's insane to drive from one end to the other, Takes forever.  But fuck it I'm here!

I Know, I know no new videos this week, I'm working on it.  It's been nothing but driving and more driving and the odd drink...Not neccessarly in that order!

So spent two nights in Little Rock Arkansas, what a hoot that place was.  It was a great place to spend St Patty's.  Met some sisters at the hotel and they ended up giving me a shout later in night to hook up for some drinks.  Luckily I was randomly meeting people going bar to Bar...They were a hoot and we might have all drank a little too much.  They were on spring break so doing a little traveling, I'm sure they had some big heads the next morning, haha..

Last night I was in Shreveport Louisiana, yeah I know! WTF...I liked it though, it was a pretty cool place, the Highway getting there diverted a little so there was a little back road driving and that was funny shit.  I had the laugh with the windows up of course.  I was having flash backs of deliverance and possibly having to squeel like a pig. It was my favorite Hotel so far cause they had a free booze for guest from 5-7, so went to the lobby and met some people there.  Ended up boozing with a Guy called Austin and he was from Houston.  Good guy and I saw him pound back like 18 beer...Poor bastard had a meeting at 7am, haha..

I also found out some new information about Canada....Supposedly we have actually bridges for Moose and Deer over the highways...That's good to know!

So I'm now in Houston and thank god for the Tom Tom GPS, I never would have made it for sure. I would have ended up in the Baillou wrastling Gators for my life without it.  PooPoo is coming tonight and he arrives at around 9:30pm.  I'm pretty excited to have him here for the rest of the trip.  We got alot of driving ahead of us for the next 7 days to Cali.  I guess it takes like 12 hours to get across Texas alone.  So we're here for a few days, then Sunday in Austin, tx..Where I should be able to get some stage time..(video's to come).  then we head to El Paso then Phoenix, AZ...

I wish I would have done a better job booking places but on the flip side it would be tough to do a show every night.  I seem to drive an average of about 5 hours each day and I'm pretty spent after that.  I know that's pussy talk, but in and out of Hotels everyday is not that easy.  Plus I have a ridicoulous amount of clothes and other shit that I have to lug in and out with me in fear of having it stolen from the Hummer. God knows they are easy to get into.....

So that's about it for now, I'm sure Daish will kick me in the ass a little and hopefully we can get some good footage, keep me going on the site/blog, etc.

Anyways rock on,

Bob

Nashville/Memphis last few nights.

Firstly sorry for the big gap between posts...It's been busy.

Well actually I don't about how busy but alot of driving and checking into hotels and maybe trying to find time for a cocktail in between all of that.

Another great friend was up with me for the last few days, Pete Bougadis.  this was a pretty fun few days.  he flew into St Louis and we did a little partying there.  We stayed at a nice hilton but were warned that don't stray to far to the left as it's not the best area, but the hotel was beautiful.  So we went and partied it up that night and probably heard the best live band ever...Wow they were great. It was a good night and the Grand Marniers that they served were crazy. The next day we worked on some material and took it easy.  It's weird the restaurants were all ok to smoke in so that was really crappy.  We went to one place for dinner and it was cloudy from the smoke, I assume this is what a chineese underground poker hall would look and smell like.  We left that shithole.

So then the next day we headed to Nashville.  Wow what a beautiful city, it was awesome.  So I did a set at some shifty little bar that the cab driver didnt even know where it was...Too funny, oh and the Driver was really hard to understand and he was eating his dinner on a regular plate while driving..Never seen that before.  So the Club was really small and wasn't a comedy club but a bar and grill, haha...Yeah I know!  The MC said that alot of people were showing up and we should stay, so we did.  There was probably 40 people there and 20 were open mikers...Weird.  I did my thing and they looked at me pretty weird.  I was 3rd on and the first two people didn't do good at all, but koodos for them for trying. So I knew what I was looking at.  It was brutal, I did get some laughs but I think because they were all fending for themselves it was tough.  Pete said I was the best up there but he has to say that!  I got over it really quick.  The people were nice but wow thankfully there are clubs that are meant for just comedy after that. Some people were singing, reading poems and others just looked like a dear right before hitting them with your car.

So we left there and took in some of the nightlife...Wow was an awesome city, I really liked it. We got suckered into going to a strip joint and sold me on the idea that I have to bring my own booze.  I'm not gonna get into too much details, but it was heaven.  We brought a box a beer and they put it in a bucket of ice for us and that was it...Again very weird.  If this was in Ottawa I probably wouldn't have left.  Actually I probably wouldn't be alive...haha.

Ended up in Memphis last night and had a quick peak of Graceland.  I don't know pretty rough town around that area, but still cool to see it.  I was hoping to find a 5x white elvis suit to wear but no such luck.  I could just imagine how awesome my package would look in white spandex...

I was great having Pete with me but I now found someone worst at singing than my cousin Patrick, holy shit Pete give it up.  You have no idea what 10 hours in a car with someone singing every song, but not knowing more than 4 words combined.  It was soo funny, he is a good hummer tho! That sounded bad. Ok he humms them ok I guess.  Oh and he needs to pee like a girl, every 9 miles, haha It's the 19 gallons of coffee that he drinks.  But man it was soo good that he was able to make it, with a pregnant wife at home and all that...Thanks Pete and Ellen...

I'm now in Little Rock, Arkansas...It's pretty nice so far, and it's St Pattys so might have to check out more.

I will be alone this week until PooPoo arrives on friday in Houston, but it will be good for some alone time.  I'm gonna download like 4000Gigs of porn and walk around naked...Might even do a full body shave, we'll see the sky's the limits.

But seriously it will be good to write some new jokes, work on my worst site ever and figure out what's next for me.  Im heading to Louisiana on wednesday, so that will be cool, I always wanted to try crawfish.

So that's about it for now, I'll try to be better with the daily posts..

Peace

Bob

Last night in St. Louis!

What's up party people??

It's with mixed emotions that I write this cause Yvan and I had a great night in St Louis, but I'm sad to see Yvan leave.  He was a great help this week and I'll miss him, thanks Bud.

So I spoke to Al Canal from the Comedy Forum over a month a go and he agreed to add me in his line up for the evening.  So we arrived and he did just that.  What a beautiful club and a great guy.  He's been in the Comedy industry forever and knew alot of Comedy.  He let me on as the 2nd act and the crowd was really into it.  The Mc did a great job and announced our game plan with the documentary.

After a few times doing it now I realized that every crowd is different and that changes from city to city or state to state.  But it was a fun crowd that seemed to like to drink alot so that is really cool.  I got some good laughs and a good cheer once it was all done.  So that was cool.

The bonus of the night was the feature and Headliner.  The Feature was Mike Brody(www.mikebrody.com) and the headliner was Mike Merryfield (www.mikemerryfield.com).  Both these guys were hilarious and I could only aspire to be as good.  The bonus though was that they were both willing to stick around at the end of the night and be interviewed by me.  Firstly I interviewed Mike B and he gave me some good advice about how I hold the mike.  Now that I watched my set I get it...So thanks Bud...Then I got to interview Mike M and that was hilarious.   He said fuck it and got all the comics on stage for a little round table.  It was insane.  So we had Both Mike's, another funny comic, who I will touch on later and the Al the Club Manager(wearing a post 1700's egyptian dress...) all on stage talking about comedy.  Wow what a great 20 minutes or so.  I really enjoyed that, so thanks guys.  We all ribbed each other a bit but laughed alot.  We did film it all and I'll post some clips of it.

The other comic that I mentioned was Bill Davis.  He's been doing comedy for about 3 years and he's 70 years old.  Yeah he was a blast(and drove us home).  He's so inspiring and proved that you can do comedy at any age.  He says that he's using comedy to get away from the wife for a night, but he's meant for it.  He retired from Real estate and said that he always wanted to try it...Good for him.  Thanks for the ride Bill.

So all in all a successful night. They laughed at me cause I was driving across the US in a Hummer doing stand up, and explained that it takes years to start making money..I get it, and I know that I have a rough ride ahead...But I'll keep at it to try to get White Lake, Orleans and Navan on the map...

Pete Bougadis is coming in today and should be here any second.  I don't think he knows what hotel I'm at.  I might have said the wrong Hilton cause there's two within a few miles..but I'm sure we'll figure it out.  This is gonna be a funny weekend with him.  He's probably the funniest guy I know and was a big reason for me doing this comedy thingy..

Thanks for caring...

Last night in Cayuhoga falls, Oh

Holy shit what a night!  We had a blast, met some really cool people and partied like it was 1999.

So I did a set at the funny stop, which was a pretty cool place.  The Crowd was a little rough, but I worked through it.  It was an amature night which was alright cause I got to see other people in the same boat.  The owner Pete couldn't have been any more accomodating and introduced me to alot of people.  It was a popular spot and alot of famous people worked there.  It was where Steve Harvey did his first set and where Tim Allen figured out his niche with the whole grunting thing...So that's awesome.

The Local Dj was the Host and he was a hoot as well.  We got some good footage and interviews afterwards.  The owner approached me and asked me to sign the back wall of the stage of Comics.  That was really cool that he asked me cause I was the only comic he asked that night.  He was impressed that it was only my third or fourth time on stage.  Alot of people approached me afterwards with comments and they seemed to all like the act.

The Club was attached to another Bar and the bartender Jodi(probably one of the sweetest cute girls Ive ever met) came up and said she loved it.  We then spent the night in her Bar..So Yvan and I got to hang with the locals and they couldn't have been any nicer.  Yvan even got approached by a dude and he said"Not to sound queer or anything but you are pretty" I almost died and gave me jokes pretty all day for our 5hr drive to Indianapolis today.

We are here in Indy now and taking it easy tonight after the shit show last night. Going through some jokes and updating things.  I uploaded a little piece from the set too.  I know it's short but I can't throw all my jokes online..Gotta keep that for later.

Anyways the trip has been amazing so far but it's tough living out of suitcases, I've been staying at Hampton Inns and they have all been great, Thanks Nuala!

Got a show tommorrow night in St Louis and looking forward to it for sure.

Yvan is heading back to Sudbury on Friday morning at 6:30am..yeah I know..that's crazy, can't wait for the 4am drive to the airport.  Pete Bougadis is flying in on Friday afternoon, so that will be another crazy week.

Jeff was going to come after that, but backed out today due to work issues.  It's too bad we would have had a blast in Tennessee and Louisiana, Texas..but I understand.  Bummer tho.

Gotta go, the three pounds of ribs that I had are needing to escape..

Peace out, Thanks for reading! Missing everyone back home.

Rocking In Dayton, Ohio

What's up Party people??

So just finished a set in Dayton Ohio at the famous Wiley's comedy club, and it went really Good.  I'm actually pretty pumped now and thinking that I like this comedy thing.

The day started off a little crazy, cause when we pulled into town a Severe Tornado warning was on so that was a little nutz.  I wanted to bolt myself to the Hotel, whereas Lee wanted to chase the motherfucker down...No Thanks.  Luckily it missed us cause I could do some major damage if I lifted off and thrown into shit.  My weight alone would wipe out a small city.

So we left and got a little lost but made it just in time.  They let us right in and upon entering we knew that this was a Comedy Club in it's rawest form.  Signed pictures of Stars everywhere and the owner is a comic who writes for the Bob and Tom Show.  This is the place that I was looking for from day one.  Wow just amazing.

It was surprisingly busy for a Sunday night, but I now know why after watching the Headliner John McDonnell from LA.  He was hilarious. I could watch him go for hours. He's a great comic with over 40 television appearances.  I told him what I was doing with the tour thing and he wished me luck before going on stage.

The set went actually really well, I missed a few jokes but I got my point across and the audience seemed to really to enjoy it.  As a matter of fact after my set alot of people approached me to say that they really liked it.  Right after my set John pulled me aside in the lobby and congratulated me.  That was really nice and I couldn't thank him enough.  Lee was able to record some of the little interview that we had so that was great.

All in all a successful night and made some great contacts,  I got to speak to some other local comics and they couldn't be any nicer. Wow I really like this shit...I just gotta keep writing.

The only Bummer is that it's Lee's last night with me and he couldn't have been more helpful and supportive.  He's been amazing at making sure I do my duty and Blog, etc...he's the best wingman a friend can have....Thanks bud.

He's flying back tommorrow and another friend Yvan is meeting me in Cleveland.  A busy week is ahead and I'm excited.

Thanks for Reading...SMB

Peace

Highlight of it all!

So I'm sitting in the room last night about 7:15pm completing my last blog when I get a call from Lee saying that while out for a walk he was able to get his hands on the last two tickets to the Cheech and Chong show.

I couldn't say yes quick enough and sprung up like a morning erection to get ready.  The problem that the show was at 8pm and it was a few miles away.  Cabs are not swarming like in Philly so we took our chance and got the front desk to call one.  What generally would take 30 minutes was 10minutes and we were off.  We arrived to a sea of people and there was a certain Buzz in the air, literally!!

Then it all happened...We get to our seats and there is a "little person" sitting below under me.  I would normally say midget, but she mentioned that she didnt like that word so I'll use Little person.  As we sit, she sort of turns around and shows us a picture of her and Cheech and Chong in the Gym at her hotel.  Really, This is amazing.  I know, I know your probable thinking, I should give up cause I can't beat that...Well then she gives us Business Cards, and Guess what?? She is a Stripper!!! Not just a Stripper, but Little Sassy Cassie at a proud 2'10 Tall.

She was really nice person and talked to us for a bit.  She gets to travel alot doing this show and was in Toronto once for a Little Person Convention. And for those that know me and My Father...We are Jerry Sringer fans and she was on the show 9 times....I repeat 9 times. She mentioned special shows like Midget Madness, etc..So bascially I'm in Heaven I can't beleive this is happening. The Stars were obviously aligned and should have bought a lottery ticket, I couldn't have lost....

Here is a picture of me kneeling beside her in the theater..Enjoy!!!

Economic times In Lancster!

Alright so I'm not good at all this administrative stuff and booked a hotel in Lancaster, PA.  There was a comedy club and they advertised an Open Mike night on Thursday nights.  I figured it's between Pittsburgh and Philly which worked out perfect.  Well Perfect is far from what happened.

Due to Economic times the Comedy club was only open friday and saturdays. The Town is primarily Amish and I even seen a horse and buggy strolling down one of he main streets.  I have to admit the people were soo nice and Hotel was nice so no complaints there.  But what to do, what to do.  We actually found a pretty cool Bar and luckily it was Karaoke night, so that's good for a laugh.  We got a little out of hand I guess cause it was $2 Bar shots.  That's dangerous in my world.  Lee and I had a little spat, but we kissed and made up and drove the next 4.5 hours with big heads.

In a town of all farms what do we do, so we find an audience.  The crowd was tough but I worked through it.  A little heckling started happening but a simple "shhhhhh" worked just fine from Lee.  We were scared of being shot so it's short..Gotta take a look at it, I call them a Shamwows with feet.

We are now in Pittsburgh and wow what a beautiful city.  I'm trying to get some stage time tommorrow night but I do have a set on sunday.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Peace

First Set in Philly!

So I had my first set last night and it turned out ok.

I've read from comedy books that it could take up to 100 times on stage to be comfortable and I believe it. See one of the biggest fears that people have is standing on front of an audience and I believe that too.

I was at Helium Comedy club and it was actually pretty busy for a tuesday night.  I got a spot on 3rd in the lineup and was pretty fucking nervous for sure.  We spoke to the Manager and he was a great guy and let us Film it too.  So that was awesome.

Sitting in the Green room with two other new comics was awkward, but I tell ya, One dude in there was peaking.  He was freaking out and I thought for sure he was gonna puke.  I wasn't there but can see why he was losing his mind. It's scary, it really is. Bad enough having to stand in front of people but then add having to make them laugh is a whole different thing.  I've trained big groups of people in past jobs but that's just relaying information to them.  Having to remember your set, trying to be animated and overall funny while people are looking up at you is nutz.  Luckily I liked it, cause I can see how people try it once and give it up for good.

The set itself like I said went ok, the start was better than the end, but overall a success for my first time in front of a strange crowd.  I am looking forward to my next set.  I should have kept to the material that I know well, but tried something different.  Not too sure why, but I eventually have to use it all, and always having to change and adapt as I go.

I hope to get into another club tonight, but man it's far away and seeing as I am stuck downtown Philly, the Hummer is stored in the craziest parking garage ever and I'm a little sick it might not happen.  But I hope it does.

It was a great night, and I think it might be something that I'll want to do moving forward.  Do Comedians get laid?? If so then that will change I think it might be something to it is something that I will do forever.  Time will tell but so far so good.

Peace

Silly in Philly!

I know, I know..two posts in one day!  It's amazing, this should rate up there with Beer.

So we made it the Philly, PA and so far are having a blast.  We got into town last night and decided to take in a little nightlife.  It was slow because of their storm of the century??? I don't know about that, but I can walk down the sidewalk and not get a soaker while wearing sandals.  There is barely no snow, but the town is pretty shut down.  It's kinda funny, but we didn't get any traffic at all and coasted into town like we were in the Kit Car.

I'm here for another two days and look forward to getting some stage time. I've got Lee Coburn with me, which is great cause he's as fucked as they get for thinking of silly crazy shit to do.  We're told to not go down in the subways at night from some couple at the bar, and were warned about some other areas, but other than that I like this town. Lee wants to challenge the subway theory but me not so much.

The Declaration of Independance was signed here, and they have the statues to prove it, so were gonna go hang out with them today.  Maybe give them our stamp of approval.  Oh yeah guess what another ambulance is driving by, That's about all we heard all night.  It sounds like the end of a soccer match out here at night.

Anyways I'll keep you all in the loop and will post some video if I get some stage time.

The Ultimate Bash!

Wow, what can I say about the farewell bash that my family and friends pulled for me...I can sum it up in two words, "fucking awesome"

I have to admit, I had mixed emotions about the party.  It was great to get everyone together but at the same time it made me realize how many great friends/Family that I had and how much I was going to miss them all.  But Holy shit we drank an obscene amount of alchool.  I probably shouldnt say this, but I think the final tally was 16 bottles of whisky and 36 cases of beer, couple of cases of wine, plus all the other stuff...That's amazing, it's the kind of party that Kurt Cobain would have pulled for Robert Downy JR.

I was able to perform a short set for everyone and I was told that it was good...Hey for the first time, what the hell.  I was nervous as hell though I have to admit.  I personally think that every set from here on end will be easier than that one.  PooPoo did great as MC and my Dad the Lamer did a great job of Roasting me as did Pete the Greek and Corey the Kiwi. I'll get all you assholes back one day!

Anyways it was a success and I can't say enough about how great the party was and how much fun I had.  It was amazing, and thank you for everyone that showed up.

I expecially want to thank the organizers and of course everyone all the sponsors.  I will be posting a list of everyone that contributed shortly.

Thanks again, got to go and write another Blog about sitting here in Philly getting ready for a show tonight..

Take-off is fast approaching!

With a less than two weeks to go before leaving, I have to admit I am now getting pretty nerveous, anxious, scared, etc....

Wow "fucker came outta nowhere"...and when I mean fucker, I'm referring to time.  It seems like just yesterday that this whole thing was just a drunken idea but it's actually reality now

Some things went super smooth, but other shit is killing me.  I didn't really filter in all the equipement costs, and it's been a little crazy.  My fairly new Laptop took a shit and left the battery floating.  So that with the fact that trying to render HD video on it was as likely as me sleeping with a super model I decided to get a new Laptop.  After some research found that a Mac was the best route.  This thing is pretty cool, but way to expensive.  However the MacBook Pro is meant for Video editing, so I'm ready to edit everything from Comedy to Porn.  Oh scratch that, I have no idea how to edit video...I'm really hoping that it comes to me one night in my sleep.

So I think that I got all the equipment I need a ProCam and a Laptop..This is how movies are made right?  Hopefully it's all I need, How hard can it be??  Yeah right ey?

Oh well roll with the punches and taking it day by day..It's all I can do now.

I guess that leaves me with the Whole Comedy and stand up left.  I think, well I hope that I have that all down pact too.  Really How hard can it be, to stand it front of a bunch of strangers and make jokes.  Not just make jokes but funny jokes.  Oh and I heard recently that talking in front of people is the number one fear for people.  WTF, really that scares the shit out of me.  I thought snakes and spiders, but standing on a stage...What did I get myself into? Oh well as long as the crowd don't bit I guess.

My family(namely my sis Nat) and a few friends have been working their asses off too. They have been working on this farwell Bash for me.  They rented an arena and it's expected to be a pretty full house.  I can't wait for that night, it's gonna be a blast.  There will be a shortage of whiskey, wine and beer in Canada for a month after this night.

Pretty exciting stuff, I can't wait for the party and for the tour...

Life without Internet!

What's up all you Connected People?

Oh and when I say connected I don't Mean Tony Soprano, waste Management I got a Guy type of Connected. But I mean connected to the Internet.

Since selling my house I've been living at the cottage temporarly until Heading to LA in march. The cottage is a beautiful place, beautiful scenery and plenty of things to keep me busy. I can snowmobile, hot tub and of course enjoy a cocktail or two. But I can't get an internet signal.

It's a whole different life without being able to check your email, get prices for something and of course Porn. These are not in order of importance either.....

I can't say that I like it, it's tough, what did people do in the past? I feel like a Bush man now, it's weird, I'm a shave away from being a Sasquatch I think. Living in the Bush is alot tougher than I thought. Sure the air is clean and all that, but I would give a piece of it up for a simple signal.

My cell phone doesnt work there either so that is a bummer, but I can call forward to the land line so that is good, but can't get my text messages...Arghh I am officially a Country man I guess.

Luckily I can't find cowboy boots in size 15 or I might have to wear them. I might get some leather Chaps though...Just for the Guests!

I am now writing this from My Sister and Brother in Laws house, they have been gracious to let me steal their signal and of course put up with my shit..God love them, but it's an hour and a half away from the cottage.

Dial up was an option I guess, but I'd rather drive the 1.5 hours and use High speed, it'll probably come out to the same amount of time to download/upload something anyways.

So I'll leave you all with that, And the point to all of this is next time you move, make sure High speed is available, or else make sure you download a Terrabyte of Porn for those rainy days!

Peace,

Bob
